The unique open-air museum “Atameken” turns 17 years old


This year the ethnomorial complex “Kazakhstan map “Atameken” will celebrate its 17th anniversary. Last year works were ca rried out to improve the territory of the museum, the official website of the capital akimat reports.

As part of the reconstruction work paving blocks, curbs, and paving slabs were replaced. On the territory of the complex outdoor lighting was carried out, the irrigation system was replaced.

Also here ramps for people with disabilities were installed and the entrance gates and fence along the perimeter of the complex were restored.

The opening of the ethnomorial complex took place on September 8, 2001 on the initiative of the Head of State. The complex represents a copy of the country’s geographic map on an area of just under two hectares, in which 14 regions and large cities are represented in miniature.
